LOCATION OF CITY:

Walajapet which is the head quarters of walajapet taluk, lies on the Chennai - Chittoor- Bangalore Road (N.H.No.4). It is situated at about 110 k.m.west of Chennai. It is at 12*56' northern lattitude and 79*22' eastern longitude and geographically in the north east of North Arcot Region. The town is well connected by rail and road with the adjoining Urban centres of Ranipet, Arcot, Arni and Vellore. Chennai-Bangalore broad gague railway line is passing at distance of 4.5 k.m. on the north of the town.

LOCATION OF MUNICIPALITY: Walajapet Municipality lies in Nawab thevadi Street nearby Walajapet Town Bus stand.

LIMITS OF MUNICIPALITY:

Walajapet Municipality itself situated on the right side of N.H.No.4 from Chennai-Chittor - Bangalore Road.It has its area endlimits in North as Padavettamman Temple, Municipal Kalyana Mandapam as its endSouth limit, in the East end limit as Tamil Nadu Housing Board and in the West endlimit as State Bank of India, walajapet branch. Walajapet Municipality upgraded as Second Grade Municipality from Third Grade as per G.O.M.S.No.85 MAWS, Dt.22.5.1998.
