About Municipality

            Sivagangai Municipality is a First Grade Municipality as District Head quarters. This Municipality is situated at a distance of 35 km from Thirupattur and 20 km from Manamadurai Highway. This is the District Head quarters and connected by both roads and rails. The extent of the town is 6.97 km. The population as per 2001 census is 40220. The people of the town are doing business and agriculture. This Municipality was constituted as third grade Municipality on 1.4.1965 and up graded as first grade Municipality from 22.5.1998 as per G.O.No 85 MA&WS dated 22.5.1998.
