Sathuvachari Municipality was constituted as Town Panchayat in the year 01.04.1967 and as second grade on 25th March 1973 and was upgraded as first grade from 28.03.1973 as per G.O.Ms.No.143 dated 23.01.1973 RD & LA Department of the local planning Area is 16.06 sq km. Total population of the Sathuvachari town is 44942 as per 2001 census record. Number of slums in the town is 4 Which constitues population about 8651. The total number of people in the below poverty line is about 936. Total number of house holds of the Sathuvachari Town is 10841. Sathuvachari Municipality has 21 wards which constitutes 13 wards for General 6 wards reserved for woman, 1 ward reserved for SC woman and wards reserved for SC men for local body election purpose.
