Udhagamandalam, popularly known as Ooty, is the capital of Nilgiris District.   The District, as the Blue Mountain, is the Horticulturist’s delight and  a Tourist Resort.  Dotted with Tea and Coffee plantations and inhabited mostly by the Badagas along with the ancient tribes like Todas, Kotas, Kurumbas, Panias and Irulas.  Ooty town is located along the State Highway, ‘Nagapattinam - Gudalur - Mysore (NGM) on the top of  Nilgiris Group of Hills.  It is nestled at an altitude of 2240 meters above Mean Sea Level  and spread out at 11.24 degrees North  latitude and 76.44 degree longitude.  More
