It was a constituted 2nd Grade Town Panchayat As per GO No: 732 dated: 26.03.1962 and it was Upgrade to Ist Grade Town Panchayat As per Collector Salem Proc. No: 63409/69 dated: 26.07.1969 and it was upgrade Selection Grade Town Panchayat as per G.O No: 191 dated: 11.09.1984 subsequently upgraded as THIRD Grade Muicipality from as per G.O No: 324 dated: 30.09.2004.
