The Town Mayiladuthurai
was classfied as III grade Municipality in 1866 covering
an extent of 11.27 sq.km.IN 1949 ,It was upgraded to
selection grade in 1984.
This town was earlier called as Mayuram and later called
as Mayavaram and then Mayiladuthurai.

nearly 0.75. kms south from bus stand, on the Tranquebar
Road.
