About municipality

Madhavaram municipality is situated near by chennai with the extent of 17.4 sq.km. . In G.O Ms 2394 RDRLA dt 19.11.1970 this panchayat was constituted into 3rd grade township, Upgraded to 2nd grade municipality vide G.O M.S.114 Municipal Administration and Water supply department dt 31.05.1994 and further upgraded from 2nd Grade Municipality to 1st Grade Municipality w.e.f 22.05.1998.

This Municipality is functioning as 1st Grade municipality from 22.05.1998 to till date. As per G.O 238, Madhavaram Municipality is upgraded as Special Grade Municipality  .There are 30 wards in this municipality with population of 85140 as per 2001 census
