ABOUT MUNICIPALITY

Dharapadavedu Municipality was constituted as Town Panchayat in the Year 01.04.1967 and as second grade on 25th March 1973 and was upgraded as first grade from 28.02.1973 as per G.O.Ms.No.143 dated 23.01.1973 RD & LA Department. The revenue villages included in the Municipality are Kalpudur, Chenggutai, MGR Nagar, and the extent of the local planning Area after the fresh surveys conducted is 12.945 Sq.Km. Total population of the Dharapadavedu town is 30070 as per 2001 census record. Number of Slums in the town is 8 which constitute population about 7620. The total number of people in the below poverty line is about 1034. Total number of house holds of the Dharapadavedu Town is 8042. Dharapadavedu Municipality has 18 wards which constitute 11 wards for General 6 wards reserved for women. 1 ward reserved for SC Women and 1 ward reserved for SC Men for local body election purpose.
