As per G.O.Ms. No. 154, dated 09.08.2010, Valparai has been upgraded as Selection Grade Municipality.

Valparai Municipality is situated in Coimbatore Revenue District, approximately 104 K.m away from Coimbatore, via Pollachi. To reach this Hill area Valparai, travel in plains for about 67 kilometers from Coimbatore, via Pollachi, Aliyar and then travel another 37 kms in Ghat Roads is required.
