Pollachi is a Special Grade Municipality and a Taluk Head Quarter. The Pollachi Municipality was constituted in the year 1920 and was elevated to  Special Grade during the year 1983.

             The office of the Municipality is situated in Palghat Highways Road.  The area of the Town is 13.87 KM having a population of 88303 (Male – 44378, Female – 43925).  The Town has been divided into 36 Electoral Wards and 9 Sanitary Divisions. Vadugapalayam and T.Kottampatty are the two villages and suburb of Pollachi Town.

            The Municipality is administered by a Municipal Commissioner supported by Municipal Engineer, Senior Town Planning Officer, Revenue Officer, Manager, Municipal Health Officer and other staff.  The Council has 12 lady members, 24 male members headed by a Chairman.
