Oddanchatram was constituted as a second grade Town  Panchayat in the year 1959 as per  Panchayat  Inspector  Roc.No. 44621/58 date: 01.04.1959.  It  was  upgraded  to  1st  grade  Town  Panchayat in the  year  1964  as  per  the  Panchayat   Inspector  Roc.No.135141/64  dated.29.03.1964.  In the  year  1967 Oddanchatram  was  upgraded  to  Selection  grade   town  Panchayat as  per  Director  of  Rural  Development  Roc.No.88426/67/C1  dated  19.12.1967. In  the  year  1993  Oddanchatram   was  upgraded  to  Special  Grade   Town  Panchayat.  Now   the  Oddanchatram   Special  GRade  Town  Panchayat   is  upgraded  to  Second  grade  Municipality  as  per  the  G.O.(Ms)  No.208   dated  02.09.2010.  more
