History of the Municipality and Municipality Place

                                Kulithalai Municipality is situated in between Karur and Trichy town. The distance from Kulithalai to Karur is  40 Kms and Kulithalai to Trichy is 35 Kms.The Kulithalai town is an important pilgrim place. The important temples are Ayyarmalai  “Gord Shiva” temple, Kulithalai Kadambavaneswar   “God Shiva” temple and the third famous temple is  Thiruingoimalai  temple.The town is laid on the down streets side of river Cauvery. 

                                Kulithalai Town Panchayat as upgraded as municipality grade II on 17.5.1994 vide G.O.127. The area of the town is 11.16 Sq.Km.The present population as per 2001 census is 26161. The municipality is divided into 24 wards.The total no. of voters are 15988. The municipality supplies protected drinking water twice daily  and there is no scarcity of drinking water. 

                                In this municipality there is no municipal bus stand. The municipal bus stand is situated in the private(temple) land. Steps have been taken to provide new bus stand. Municipality is collecting the garbages door to door in all 24 wards.
